Visiting the UK

If you wish to visit the UK you must apply for a Standard Visitor Visa. Visitors to the UK must be able to demonstrate that he/she is genuinely entering the UK as a visitor for a period of less than 6 months (with exceptions) and that they will be able to maintain and accommodate themselves during that period.

The Standard Visitor visa has now replaced all other visitor visas and can be used to visit the UK for a holiday, for specific business purposes such as attending conferences, meetings or training sessions, for certain academic purposes such as to carry out research or to sit exams or for another reason such as to receive private medical treatment.
